In this latest TRT interview, the AIWG addresses the awful Islamophobic arson attack on Peacehaven Mosque.
This is not just an attack on a building, it’s an attack on a community, on our shared values, and on the right to worship freely and safely. The anxiety that Muslims are feeling right now is only worsening with an increase in anti-Muslim narratives, Islamophobic hate crimes, and the rise of far-right extremism.
We need more than statements of condemnation, we need genuine action, starting with a definition of Islamophobia and a national strategy to tackle this hatred.
The Anti-Islamophobia Working Group has been calling on successive governments to engage, and we’re ready to work with policymakers, but the government has to step up.
We don’t need more reassurances, we need leadership, accountability, and the political will to treat Islamophobia as the structural, pervasive issue it is.
