🌙 The Anti-Islamophobia Working Group was honored to join the Prime Minister at Number 10 to celebrate Eid al Fitr.
The Prime Minister highlighted the British Muslim community’s vast contribution to society and also acknowledged the rising Islamophobia across the UK. He spoke about the awful riots which took place in the Summer of 2024, illustrating the dangers of far-right activity and Islamophobic tropes.
The reception also featured guest speakers including the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, Justice Secretary, Shabana Mahmood, and Faith Minister, Lord Wajid Khan.
The Government has pledged to adopt a formal definition of Islamophobia and engage with the community to tackle this awful form of hatred. The Working Group looks forward to working with the Government going forward and creating a more inclusive society for all.
